Each link negotiates the highest speed supported by both ends. Plugging a 1Gbps computer into this 2.5Gbps switch still leaves that computer’s link at 1Gbps.
@techbargains Port mirroring copies traffic to another port. Useful if you troubleshoot the network with packet captures.
The management interface includes a cable test. Handy for checking a troublesome Ethernet run before replacing hardware.
A connection back to your router uses one of the eight ports, leaving seven for other wired devices. There isn’t a separate uplink port to keep all eight free.
This switch doesn’t supply Power over Ethernet. PoE cameras and access points will still need their own power supplies or separate injectors.
